EEX Account Types
EEX offers several types of accounts tailored to meet the needs of different market participants. The main account types include:
- Full EEX Membership: This account allows trading in power, natural gas, and emerging environmental markets.
- EEX Power Markets: This account enables participation in trading EEX power products, including spot and derivatives.
- EEX Natural Gas Markets: This account is for trading natural gas products across 13 European markets.
- Emerging and Environmental Markets: This account provides access to environmental markets, agricultural markets, and trade registration of contracts not offered for exchange trading at EEX.
- Auction-Only Membership: This account allows participation in primary market auctions of emission allowances.
- Non-Trading Broker Membership: Non-trading brokers can close trades on behalf of participants without being direct exchange members.
- View-Only Access: This account provides access to the trading screen without trading rights, limited to a term of three months.
EEX Broker Account Opening Process
To open an account with EEX, potential participants must complete the following steps:
- Contact EEX Sales: Reach out to EEX sales representatives to express interest in membership.
- Pass the Trader Exam: Applicants must complete and pass the EEX trader exam to demonstrate their understanding of trading rules and regulations.
- Choose Technical Access: Select the specific technical access required to connect to EEX trading systems.
- Fill in Admission Documents: Complete the necessary admission forms, providing required documentation such as proof of personal reliability and professional qualifications.
- Find a Clearing Bank: Establish a relationship with a clearing bank and sign a Non-Clearing Member (NCM) agreement.
- Complete KYC Requirements: Fill in the Know Your Customer (KYC) questionnaire along with other admission documents.
- Submit Admission Forms: Submit all completed forms to EEX for processing.
