CME Account Types

  CME Group offers several types of trading accounts tailored for different trading needs. The primary account types include:

  •   Clearing Accounts: These accounts are essential for traders who want to clear their trades through CME. They can be set up for different services such as ClearPort Clearing and CME Direct (CME Globex).

  •   BrokerTec Accounts: Specifically designed for trading BrokerTec products, these accounts allow users to connect via a dedicated iLink message gateway.

  •   Sub-Accounts: Traders can create sub-accounts under a primary account, allowing for better risk management and organization of trading activities.

  •   Delegated Intermediary Accounts: These accounts are managed by a clearing firm and allow for the aggregation of trades for risk management.

  •   Customer Accounts: These are accounts designated for individual customers, allowing them to trade on their own behalf.

    CME Broker Account Opening Process

      To open an account with CME, follow these steps:

    •   Account Type Selection: Determine the type of account you need (Clearing, BrokerTec, etc.).

    •   Account Creation:

      • Go to the account management service and perform an account search.
      • If the account does not exist, select "Create New Account."
      • Specify the required clearing account settings, including the clearing firm, unique account number, and relationship to entities.
      • Permissions Setup:
        • Proceed to set up market type permissions, product permissions, and broker permissions in steps 2 through 4.
        • Credit Controls:
          • In step 5, set maximum permissible credit and product trading limits (long/short).
          • Finalization:
            • Review all provided information and confirm the account creation.
            • Documentation:
              • Depending on the broker, you may need to submit documents such as identification and proof of residency.
              • Funding the Account:
                • Deposit the required initial margin as specified by CME for the selected account type.

CMME accounts can be viewed for products that can be traded accounts with a minimum deposit of by (2+) .
