SAFc Registry Account Types

The SAFc Registry offers four types of accounts tailored for different business needs related to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). These account types are:

  • Fuel Provider Holding Account (FPHA): Designed for companies that produce or trade in SAF. The FPHA is unique as it is the only account type that can issue new SAF certificates (SAFC), but it cannot retire them.

  • Air Transport Provider Holding Account (ATPHA): Intended for companies providing aviation services for passengers and/or freight, such as airlines and freight carriers. The ATPHA can retire Type 1 SAF CA, while other accounts must retire SAF CA on behalf of a specific ATPHA, contingent upon acceptance of the retirement.

  • General Holding Account (GHA): This account is for companies that wish to handle and retire SAFC to make climate disclosures.

  • Logistics Provider Holding Account (LPHA): This account is for companies that arrange aviation services on behalf of corporate end-users of freight transport or corporate flight bookings. When an LPHA retires a SAFCE on behalf of a customer, it is also listed in the retirement table.

SAFc Registry Broker Account Opening Process

To open an account with the SAFc Registry, follow these steps:

    • Create Account: A company representative can create a new account by navigating to the accounts section and clicking "Create an Account."

    • Choose Account Name: The name does not need to be unique and can be changed later.

    • Designate Signatures: Specify how many signatures are required for account actions. For example, entering "2" means two representatives must approve an action before it can be initiated.

    • Add Account Representatives: Designate yourself and invite others via email to join as account representatives. Each representative will have specific signing rights (initiate actions, approve actions, etc.).

    • Account Status: The account can be in one of four statuses: Active, Rejected, Blocked, or Closed.

    • Closing an Account: If you need to close an account, it can be done by clicking on the three dots next to the account in the accounts section, but it cannot be closed if it contains any active SAFC.

    • For further details, refer to the SAFc Registry User Guide.
